Monday morning thoughts

Well, the news is out — Gonzales is resigning.  And just in time for the folks at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to go on vacation, too.  Imagine that!  I won’t pretend that I don’t want “the guys on my team” to be the ones calling the shots, but I expect those in power to govern justly and fairly.  So I am glad to see Gonzales go.

Be advised that while the news cycle is reeling, this is the time for vigilence.  It is at times like these when unpopular policy decisions are released.  Remember that the whole “state attorney firing scandal” was caused by language sneaked into the Patriot Act.

Keep watch.

My own concern here is - and this is not without precedent - that Senate Democrats will be so relieved that Alberto Gonzales (who I've said is so twisted he should be called Earblot Slagzone) is out that they'll just let whichever new Constitution-undermining slug Bush comes up with pass without a fuss.

So yes, vigilance!
